In The Gift, Lewis Hyde discusses the importance of giving in various societies. He begins with the myths and folktales surrounding giving. He also delves into the history of economics, and the biblical law against usury. Finally he discusses the gift of artists, and how they keep that gift sacred. Campbell’s explanation of the Three Graces was in my mind as I read this book.
